Atlantic City Robbery Suspect Captured by Police Had Gun, Drugs

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – A robbery suspect wanted by police in Atlantic City was captured by officers and found to be in possession of drugs and an illegal gun.

The Atlantic City Police Department reported an armed robbery on South Carolina Avenue where one man was robbed at gunpoint on Monday.

“At 1:47 PM, patrol officers responded to the 200 North block of South Carolina Avenue for a report of a man that was robbed. Officer John Bell arrived and spoke to the victim, 23, of Atlantic City, who stated he was robbed at gunpoint of his belongings by a male he is familiar with. Officer Bell obtained a description of the suspect and broadcasted it to responding officers,” the Atlantic City Police Department said. “Moments later, Special Investigations Detective Christopher Smith observed a male, Zion Key, 20, matching the description of the suspect on Gordon’s Alley.”


Detective Smith and responding patrol units subsequently stopped Key who was found to be in possession of a handgun. Officers also located suspected crack cocaine, a digital scale, and packaging materials commonly used for distributing illegal narcotics. Key was placed in custody without incident.

Key was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. The public is reminded that charges are mere allegations and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
