Investigation Continues Month After Utica 12-Year-Old Shot in Face

UTICA, NY – A 12-year-old boy from Utica was shot in the face while riding inside a vehicle that happened to pass through a random shooting in the city on August 16th. Now, after more than a month police are continuing their investigation into the shooting despite receiving very little information from possible witnesses.

The 12 year old boy, Malik Herron was shot on Whitesboro St. and now police are seeking community assistance in identifying individuals that may have been at the gathering, or more importantly those responsible for the shooting of Malik.

“Malik was a passenger in a car that happened to be driving by the location just as the time of shots being fired, and was an innocent victim of senseless gun violence. He was struck once in the face, and continues to need medical services for his injury,” police reported. “We are actively working with his family and members of the community to solve this case, but we seeking more information that can assist us.”
