50 Shots Fired, Two Hit in South Jersey Shootout

BURLINGTON CITY, NJ – On Saturday, September 17, 2022, at approximately 10:00 pm a Burlington City Police patrol officer was in the 10:00 pm, East Broad St and Saint Mary St. when he heard numerous gunshots coming from the New Yorkshire neighborhood.

While attempting to find the location of the gunfire, he was approached by individuals in a vehicle indicating a rear seat passenger had been shot. The 20-year-old male from Philadelphia sustained a gunshot woun20-year-old and was transported to Cooper Trauma Center in Camden, NJ where he was treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

Officers located a crime scene in the 500 block of York St. with physical evidence of the shooting. Three houses and six vehicles were struck during the incident, and approximately fifty spent shell casings were recovered.


While officers continued their investigation on the scene, a 20-year-old male from Burlington City, NJ, arrived at the Virtua Hospital with a gunshot wound,d to the arm. He was transported to Cooper Trauma Center in Camden, NJ, and treated for a nonlife-threatening injury.
