Police today said that the shooting occurred outside the football stadium’s security perimeter.

Newburgh Police Chief Anthony Geraci said a fight broke out in the parking lot at the school, followed by around five gunshots shortly after the end of the game as fans were starting to leave.

The victims included a forty-three-year-old woman who was shot in the foot; a 17-year-old girl shot in the leg; and a 21-year-old man who suffered a gunshot wound to the foot.

All activities at the campus were suspended on Saturday. The school has announced that trauma and crisis managers will be made available for students and faculty.

“Last night there was a shooting incident on the grounds on one our high school campuses, outside of the security perimeter for an event taking place. We are thankful for the quick and thorough response of our local law enforcement agencies and security personnel. At this time, there is limited information that we can provide as we wait for a thorough investigation to be conducted,” the school said in a statement.
