Lindenwold man wanted for murder arrested after tense standoff with SWAT team

LINDENWOLD, N.J.- On Friday night the Lindenwold Police Department arrested Ronin Austin Nevels, 23, after a tense standoff with police and SWAT team members. Nevels was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and possession of an unlawful weapon.

He was being sought by police in connection with the murder of 23-year-old Isaiah Shaw.

According to police, at around 9:52 p.m. officers responded to a 911 call for a person shot on Egg Harbor Road in Lindenwold. Upon their arrival, they found the victim it was suffering from gunshot wounds and began administering first aid until Emergency Medical Services units arrived.


Shaw was pronounced dead at the scene.

During our investigation detectives learned that Nevels was the suspect in that shooting and had barricaded himself inside his home in Gloucester Township. After a standoff with SWAT team officers and a crisis negotiation team, he exited the residence and surrendered himself to the Gloucester Township Police Department.

Nevels is currently lodged at the Camden County Correctional Facility.
