Police investigate chemical inhalation incident at downtown Toms River apartment building

TOMS RIVER, NJ – The Berkeley Township HAZMAT team and Toms River police officers responded to an apartment building in Downtown Toms River after one person was taken to the hospital suffering from injuries caused by a chemical inhalation.

First responders wearing HAZMAT suits entered the apartment in the Toms River Apartments on Highland Park Drive.

It is suspected the injury was a result of fumes from chemical cleaning supplies. No other injuries were reported. The condition of the hospitalized patient is unknown. No further information was released at this time.
