Newark police are searching for three suspects wanted for double shooting last week

NEWARK, NJ – The Newark police department is asking for the Public’s assistance in identifying three suspects wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred last Tuesday at around 12:10 a.m. and the area of Elliot Street and Sumner Avenue.

Shortly after midnight, police received a 911 call regarding reported gunshots in the Forest Hills neighborhood.

Upon their arrival, police officers located one victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to University Hospital and was listed in stable condition, according to Newark Public Safety Fritz G. Fragé.


Police later learned that a second suspect arrived at University Hospital in a private vehicle, shot during the same incident.

Police recovered a handgun in the 600 block of Summer Avenue, which they believed was the gun used target shooting.
