CAMDEN, NJ – A Salem County man has been charged for the death of his mother while inside her vehicle in May in Camden. According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, early in the morning on May 23, Gary Richman, 36, and his mother Sandra Richman, 65, traveled from their residence in Salem County, New Jersey to the Cramer Hill section of Camden.

“During that time, Sandra Richman sustained a blunt force head injury while inside of their vehicle. Gary Richman transported Sandra to Cooper University Hospital for treatment,” police said.

Sandra Richman died in hospice care on June 12th from her injuries.

Police said her death was related to complications from her assault in May at the hands of her son.

“An autopsy performed by the Office of Gloucester-Camden-Salem Counter Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death to be homicide and the cause of her death to be complications of blunt force head injury,” the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said today.

Richman was charged with second degree manslaughter.
