Suspicious individual in Jackson prompts security alert at three schools

Phil Stilton

JACKSON, NJ – A school security alert has been lifted on the eastern side of Jackson Township after a suspicious person was reported walking the roads in the area.

Students were locked down for about 15 minutes at around 2:15 pm.

“At the direction of the Jackson Police Department, Holman Elementary School, McAuliffe Middle School and Jackson Liberty High School were placed in “SECURE” status, which means students or staff were not permitted outside of the building,” the Jackson Police Department reported today,” the Jackson School District said in a statement moments ago. “This precaution was advised due to a report of a suspicious individual walking on public roads in the area of those schools.”

The incident is expected to cause delays to dismissal and busing at those schools.

The Jackson Police Department did not provide further details on the incident at this time.
