The Villages, FL – Willie Jewell’s Old School Bar-B-Q
Willie Jewell’s Old School Bar-B-Q at Magnolia Plaza in The Villages is set to open in early May. The restaurant is busy hiring employees including cashiers, food runners, line cooks and meat cutters.

South Bend, IN – No. 6
Amanda Shutts and Andrew Caspers will open No. 6, a scratch kitchen restaurant that will offer “elevated comfort food with a mix of dishes from around the world,” Shutts described. The plan is for the restaurant to open by May, with lunch and dinner service on the weekdays and brunch, lunch and dinner on the weekends.

Pittsburgh, PA – Gi-Jin
Nearly four years after the Richard DeShantz Restaurant Group announced its intentions to open Gi-Jin in the space adjacent to tako and Butcher and the Rye, its owners have set an opening date: April 6. “It’s such a small space, and we wanted it to be really special. I think we found the key pieces to helping move that vision forward,” says Casey Henderlong, RDRG Director of Events and Public Relations.

Phoenix, AZ – By the Bucket
If you’ve recently dined in Payson, Arizona – or maybe even if you haven’t – you’ve probably heard of By the Bucket. The local restaurant is known for its spaghetti, and particularly the vessel in which it’s served: a bucket. Now, By the Bucket is finally headed south to the Valley. Owner Bret daCosta (“They ran out of Ts when I was born”) says an Ahwatukee location is set to open within the month, at 1420 East Chandler Boulevard.

Des Moines, IA – Zora
An all-new rooftop bar and restaurant with a view of the downtown Des Moines skyline is getting ready to light up the corner of Ingersoll and Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway this spring. Construction is well underway on Zora, a new nightlife-focused rooftop bar located at 2120 Ingersoll Avenue, Des Moines, the gateway to the Ingersoll business district.

Houston, TX – Rakkan Ramen
A new ramen shop will open in Houston’s M-K-T in early April. Rakkan Ramen will offer authentic Japanese cuisine. “Houston has a great food scene and is incredibly diverse,” said Rakkan Ramen franchise owner Chris Lav, on what attracted the brand to Houston. “The vibe at M-K-T is laid-back and modern, it just looks like a great place to be happy.”
