UTICA, NY – Two juvenile teens were arrested by the Utica Police Department Monday afternoon after officers responded to a shooting call in the area of Bleecker Street at around 2:15 pm.

According to police, an investigator noticed two males riding a bike as if in a hurry and then witnessed them jump off their bikes and head in the direction of Bleecker Street. The detective then witnessed the two teens firing handguns at an unknown subject in the intersection of Bleecker and Second Street.

“One of the males then returned to his bicycle and started to flee eastbound on Jay St. The investigator then gave chase and radioed to other units the description of the party he was chasing, as well as the other individual,” police said in a statement today. “The suspect on the bicycle passed Mohawk St and continued onto the 700 block of Jay St where he went behind a residence there. Responding Patrol units gave chase and were able to apprehend the suspect behind the residence after a brief foot pursuit.”

Investigators located one of the firearms on a nearby roof. Another firearm was taken from the waistband of the second suspect.

Both were charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
