North York Borough – A 70-year-old woman was nearly struck by a bullet fired into her home on 10th Avenue in near North Duke Street in North York Borough. Today, the Northern York County Regional Police Department announced a suspect has been apprehended, and charges are pending.
A shot fired into the home struck a dresser less than three feet from where the elderly resident was standing at the time of the incident, police reported today.
Detectives investigating the shooting found nearby surveillance video showing the vehicle used in the incident.
“While canvassing the area for evidence, the police received two videos. The videos show two speeding vehicles driving south on N. Duke St. from the location of the shot fired report,” police reported. “The police spotted the first vehicle in the videos above, a black 2019 Dodge Charger, driving north on N. Duke St. shortly after receiving the videos.”
After briefly attempting to evade the police, the Dodge was stopped on E. 6th Ave.
“The three occupants advised that they knew nothing about a gunshot, driving recklessly on N. Duke St., or that a vehicle had been following them with a man standing up out of the sunroof. The occupants of the Dodge ranged from 18 to 20 years of age; all were residents off York County,” police said.
Charges against the suspect are pending.
