A person who checked out a Beatles tape containing an interview with John Lennon and Paul McCartney describing the magic of the band 44 years ago has returned it to the San Antonio library.

Library officials said the tape was checked out of the city’s Westfall branch and was just recently returned.

It’s not certain what the fine would have been, but the San Antonio Public Library system has been granting amnesty on fines since 2021.

“Have you ever checked out an item from SAPL and never had a chance to return it?” the library said ina public statement last Sunday. “Can you believe this recording of The Beatles was checked out from Westfall Branch Library 44 years ago and returned to us recently? Imagine all the potential fines there could have been! Luckily, we have been fine-free since October 2021, so even if you have an item to return that’s a year late, a decade late, and even four decades late, we will still accept it at NO charge!”

The cassette was published in 1969, entitled “John Lennon And Paul McCartney Describe The “Magic” Of The Beatles”.

The item could possibly be a collector’s item at this point, but little information about it was found online.
