NYC man wanted for shooting rampage that killed two, including 17-year-old captured

NEW YORK – A man wanted for three shootings in New York City over a 24-hour period has been captured by police, thanks to the help of tips from the NYPD Crime Stoppers. 28-year-old Sundance Oliver was apprehended after a citywide manhunt.

He was taken into custody in Brooklyn.

“Homicide suspect, Sundance Oliver, is in custody with charges pending. At this time, there are NO outstanding suspects. The investigation into these shootings remains ongoing by NYPD detectives,” the NYPD said Tuesday morning.


On Tuesday morning, he was arrested for three shootings, including the deaths of a 17-year-old girl and a 21-year-old man in Lower Manhattan.

According to reports, Oliver is a repeat offender with twelve prior arrests.

On Monday, he fired shots at a woman he was robbing but struck a 96-year-old man instead in Brooklyn. Then he went to Lower Manhattan, where he murdered a 21-year-old man, shooting him multiple times.

A few hours later, he also shot and killed a 17-year-old girl inside a Brooklyn apartment.

At this point, police do not know what sparked the shooting spree.
