HARRISBURG, PA – A baby inside a van parked outside North 6th and Maclay streets was taken along with the van after the owner left the vehicle running and unattended, police reported today.

According to police, on Saturday, at about 7:30 pm, the Harrisburg Police responded to North 6th and Maclay Streets for a report of a vehicle that was stolen while it was left running and unattended.

“Upon officers’ arrival they were advised that the vehicle, a 2008 black in color Nissan Quest with a Pennsylvania tag of LWV-8001, was taken by an unknown actor and a four-month-old infant was inside of the vehicle at the time it was taken,” police reported today.

According to detectives, a multi-agency search was initiated.

Two hours later, the vehicle was found, with the infant alone inside.

“A multijurisdictional search for the stolen van, and infant, was initiated immediately. “At about 9:45 pm a Harrisburg Police Officer located the van at Augusta Street and Charles Alley,” the Harrisburg Police Department said. “The vehicle had been abandoned. The officer located the four-month-old inside of the van, and EMS was immediately sought. The infant appeared to be uninjured and in good condition but was transported to a local hospital for a more comprehensive medical exam. The investigation is ongoing at this time.”

No arrests have been made. Police did not release any information regarding the suspect’s description.
