Four shot, one dead in Bronx shooting

On Saturday, January 21, 2023 at approximately 2226 hours, police responded to a 911 call of shots fired in the vicinity of 1121 Morris Avenue, within the confines of the 44 Precinct.

NEW YORK, NY – Four people were shot, and one person, a 33-year-old man, was killed in a shooting that occurred last night in the Bronx. At around 11:30 pm, 911 calls reported shots being fired in the area of Morris Avenue near McClellan Street in the Claremont section of the Bronx.

When police arrived at the scene, they located two male victims with gunshot wounds.

The first victim, a 29-year-old man, was shot in the arm and taken by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln in stable condition.


Te second victim, shot in the stomach, was also taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

During their investigation, detectives with the NYPD’s 44th Precinct learned two other victims were reported just blocks away in the area of Sherman Avenue and East 167th Street.

A 24-year-old victim was driven to NYC Health and Hospitals/Harlem and was listed in stable condition.

A fourth victim, a 30-year-old male was shot in the lower back. He was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln by EMS and treated. He was also listed in stable condition.

Police believe the two shootings just blocks away from each other are connected and are conducting an investigation.

At this time, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.
