‘I Can’t Think Of One Thing She’s Done’: Behind The Scenes, Democrats Have Lost Hope In Kamala Harris: REPORT

Mary Lou Masters on February 6, 2023

Some Democratic Party officials have lost faith in Vice President Kamala Harris and believe she is in a lose-lose situation for the 2024 presidential election, according to The New York Times.

Harris’ critics claim that whether President Joe Biden decides to run again in 2024 or not, it’s a risk for a Democratic presidency. If Biden runs, opponents believe her name on the ballot could cost them the election, and if he doesn’t run, they don’t believe she is not a strong enough candidate to win on her own, the NYT reported, citing anonymous Democrats from the White House, Capitol Hill and across the country.

“That will be in my opinion one of the most hard-hitting arguments against Biden,” John Morgan, a Democratic Party donor, told the NYT.

Now that Biden has insinuated that he intends to run again, the NYT reported many Democrats worry that Harris’ name on the ticket as his running mate will deter voters. Their worries came after a FiveThirtyEight poll showed Harris’ approval rating at 39%.

“I can’t think of one thing she’s done except stay out of the way and stand beside him at certain ceremonies,” Morgan told the NYT.

If Biden doesn’t run in 2024, many in the party hope to find ways to go around or “sideline” Harris without offending her or other members of the Democratic constituency, the NYT reported.

The anonymous Democrats said Harris has yet to prove herself to be a strong leader of the Democratic Party, let alone the country, according to the NYT.

Democrat Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina sympathized with Harris, stating that because she is so many firsts the first woman, African American and Asian to serve as vice president she has to work extra hard and ensure she’s not the last, the NYT reported.

The White House did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
