Two charged for smuggling weed into Delaware prison

WILMINGTON, DE – Two men were charged for smuggling weed into a Delaware prison on Saturday.

The Department of Corrections initiated a drug investigation on Saturday at approximately 11:10 a.m. at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, located at 1181 Paddock Road in Smyrna.

As a result of that investigation, officers arrested Aaron Cain, 23, of Wilmington. The inmate he was smuggling the marijuana to, Tyler Carter, was also arrested.


According to the investigation, Cain was observed passing a small, concealed object to Tyler Carter, an inmate at the facility, during a scheduled inmate visit.

A search revealed approximately 29.06 grams of suspected marijuana in Carter. Cain was found to have 69.76 grams of suspected marijuana on his person and 7.68 grams in his vehicle. Cain was taken into custody and transported to Troop 9 of the Delaware State Police.
