NYC teacher arrested for assaulting juvenile student

NEW YORK, NY – A New York City school teacher was arrested on Thursday and charged with assault by the NYPD after an alleged incident involving an 8-year-old female student.

The incident took place at the David N. Dinkins School in Jamaica, Queens.

According to police, Lashawn Leak, 33, was charged with assault at around 10:45 am. Leak is a paraprofessional and city employee.

Police have not released many details regarding the assault, but they did say she assaulted an 8-year-old female student. That student was treated for injuries at Jamaica Hospital.
