MANHATTAN, N.Y. – Police are searching for a suspect who stabbed a man and stole his iPhone during a violent robbery inside Bellevue South Park Wednesday afternoon.

According to investigators, the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on September 30, when a 24-year-old man was sitting in the park near Mount Carmel Place and East 28th Street. Two unidentified individuals approached him, and one forcibly snatched the phone from his lap before stabbing him in the lower abdomen.

The attacker fled eastbound on East 27th Street and remains at large. The victim was taken by private means to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was listed in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion, black hair, and a slim build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants.

Detectives from the NYPD’s Robbery Squad are investigating and reviewing nearby surveillance footage.
