New restaurant in Toms River makes pizza, pastries and cakes

TOMS RIVER, NJ – You don’t see it often at the Jersey Shore, but you will at Maria’s Diner Pizza Bakery on Route 166. Today, the business, owned by Genero Nieto held a grand opening ceremony with township officials to celebrate the new business.

From the outside, it looks like another pizza joint in Toms River, but on the inside, it’s a bit different. It’s a diner. It’s a pizzeria. It’s a bakery, all in one.

You can find the traditional Italian restaurant fare here, pizza, dinners, hot and cold subs, but you can also get pancakes, omelets, eggs, burritos and wraps.

They basically have it all.

They also have cakes, pastries and desserts. They have been open since the fall, but Toms River officials visited today to host an ‘official’ grand opening ceremony. A free buffet was offered until 2 pm on Sunday to celebrate with customers new and old.
