NYPD identifies man killed in Bronx double shooting

NEW YORK, NY – The NYPD has identified the man shot and killed in a double shooting in the Bronx this week. 34-year-old Darnell Johnson, of the Bronx, was shot multiple times Saturday morning.

Two men were shot, and one was killed Saturday in the Bronx. Police with the NYPD’s 48th Precinct were dispatched to East 179th Street and Mapes Avenue after receiving a 911 call regarding a shooting in the area.

When police arrived shortly after 3 am, officers located a 34-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital by EMS. A short time later, he was declared deceased.


Police later learned that a second gunshot victim from the same shooting incident was taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital before police arrival. That 33-year-old male victim had a single gunshot wound to his right arm.

He is recovering in stable condition at this time.

Police have not made any arrests and no suspects have been identified.
