ERIE, PA – A series of hoax calls reporting a shooting at Erie High School prompted a swift response from the Erie Police Department and Erie’s Public Schools Police Department on Wednesday morning. The incident was part of a larger statewide hoax targeting schools and businesses across Pennsylvania.

Within two minutes of the first call, officers were on the scene, and a hard lockdown was initiated. After an extensive search, no threat was identified, and the lockdown lasted less than an hour.

Erie Public Schools Superintendent Brian Polito praised the quick response from law enforcement and the cooperation of the Erie High School staff in keeping students safe during the lockdown.
