HAMILTON, NJ – The Township of Hamilton Police Department is investigating reports and numerous social media posts of a black panther roaming the Weymouth section of the Township. Officers responded to a call today, in the Weymouth section for a report of a black coyote or large feline in the woods.
After a brief search, officers located a large black dog that belonged to a local resident. The police department has continued to investigate these reports that appear to have stemmed from one original call/post, and at this time, all reports/calls/posts about a black panther have been unsubstantiated.
The police department reminds the public that if they see a large feline or any other potentially dangerous animal in the area, they should not approach it and call 911 immediately.
It’s essential to provide as much detail as possible to help the responding officers locate the animal.
