25-Year-Old Charged in Connection with Fatal Stabbing on NYC Subway Train

NEW YORK CITY, NY – After an ongoing investigation, the NYPD has arrested 25-year-old Mark Smith from Brooklyn in connection to a fatal stabbing incident that occurred onboard a northbound ‘D’ train on Thursday. The stabbing occurred near the 4th Avenue and Pacific Street station in Brooklyn.

Upon responding to a 911 call, officers found 18-year-old Isaiah Collazo from Staten Island with a stab wound to his abdomen. Emergency Medical Services transported Collazo to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Further investigation revealed that the victim was involved in a dispute with another male, who was later identified as Mark Smith, who stabbed him with an unknown object before fleeing the scene. No weapon was recovered.


Smith has been charged with manslaughter, assault, and two counts of criminal weapon possession. The investigation remains ongoing as the NYPD collects evidence and gathers more information about the incident.
