Montgomery County Attempted Strong-Arm Robbery Under Investigation

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating an attempted strong-arm robbery that occurred on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. At approximately 1 p.m., officers responded to the 8500 block of Colesville Road after receiving reports of an attempted robbery.

The initial investigation revealed that the victim was walking north when two unknown female suspects approached her from behind. One of the suspects grabbed the victim’s hair, pulled her down, and began striking her in the upper body and head, while the second suspect attempted to take the victim’s jacket. Unable to remove the jacket, the suspects verbally threatened the victim and fled the area on foot.

The suspects are described as two Black females with medium skin tones. The first suspect is heavy-set, wearing a blue jean jacket, black pants, and a bonnet on her head. The second suspect is slender with braces on her teeth, wearing a white long-sleeve shirt, black pants, black and white sneakers, and a bonnet on her head. Anyone with information regarding the suspects or the crime is asked to contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. Callers may remain anonymous.
