TOLEDO, OH – A robbery suspect was shot and killed by Toledo police on Friday after allegedly pointing a gun at officers in a West Toledo neighborhood. The incident occurred at the intersection of Vermaas and Dryden around 9:30 a.m.

A second suspect was later arrested, and two guns were recovered from the scene.

The suspects are accused of robbing a Dollar General store in the 800 block of Phillips before fleeing on foot and firing at least one shot at pursuing officers.

Police established a perimeter to locate the suspects, and after spotting one of them, attempted to de-escalate the situation. The suspect did not comply with officers’ commands to drop his gun and was ultimately shot by police.

The suspect was treated at an area hospital, where he later died. The identities of the suspects have not been released, and the officers involved in the shooting will be on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues.
