Philadelphia Dollar Store clerk stood up to armed robber, refused demands

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Central Detective Division of the Philadelphia Police Department is requesting the public’s help in identifying a suspect who attempted to rob a Dollar General Store located at 1300 Lehigh Avenue.

The incident took place on April 10, 2023, at approximately 9:13 a.m., when the suspect entered the store, went behind the counter, and implied he had a gun. The suspect demanded money from the cash register, but when the clerk refused to comply, the suspect left the store and was last seen walking south on13th Street from Lehigh Avenue.

The suspect is described as a Black male in his teens, standing approximately 5’11” tall, with a thin build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and white sneakers.


Philadelphia police are urging anyone with information on the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to call 215.686.TIPS (8477) or submit a tip anonymously online.
