WALDORF, MD – A Charles County resident who goes by the nickname “Big Winner” has hit the jackpot for the third time in 11 months, winning $50,000 from the Maryland Lottery’s Pick 5 game. The 52-year-old truck driver had placed a $1 straight bet on the same number, 48548, that had previously won him $100,000 in May 2022. He claimed his latest prize at Lottery headquarters this week after winning the April 13 midday drawing.

“Big Winner” credits his wife for the lucky numbers, saying they kept playing after their initial win. He advises other winners to keep playing, as the chances of winning are the same with each drawing. He also enjoys playing Racetrax, a game offered by the Maryland Lottery.

The lucky ticket was purchased from Big Mouth Beer, Wine, and Liquor in Waldorf, which will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning ticket. “Big Winner” plans to use the prize money for a much-needed vacation with his wife.
