Downers Grove man charged for crash that injured teen passengers

CHICAGO, IL – A 19-year-old man from Downers Grove, Illinois, has been charged with multiple felonies related to a reckless driving incident that left two people seriously injured. Ricardo Ortega-Flores was arrested on April 20, 2023, by members of the Chicago Police Department and the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force in the 1700 block of S. State.

According to police reports, Ortega-Flores was responsible for a vehicle crash that occurred on April 2, 2023, in the 4200 block of S. Kedzie, in the 9th District. The offender was driving at a high rate of speed when he collided with another vehicle, resulting in serious injuries to two of his passengers – a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old male.

Ortega-Flores has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated reckless driving causing bodily harm and two felony counts of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury or death. He was brought before the Central Bond Court on April 22, 2023, located at 2600 S. California.
