YONKERS, NY – Jaquan Henderson, 23, was sentenced to 10 years in state prison, with three years of post-release supervision, for a July 2022 shooting in Yonkers that injured three people. Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced the sentencing on Thursday, expressing relief that a dangerous gunman has been removed from the streets and justice has been served.

On March 2, 2023, Henderson pleaded guilty to Assault in the First Degree for shooting three individuals after firing 11 rounds from a 9mm pistol at a group of people on School Street in Yonkers at approximately 10:45 p.m. on July 16, 2022.

The incident was captured on surveillance video, and the three victims received emergency treatment at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

Henderson fled the state after the shooting and was apprehended in Lithonia, Georgia, on August 3, 2022, by the FBI’s Atlanta Metro Major Offender Task Force. The arrest followed a joint investigation by the Yonkers Police Department, the District Attorney’s Office, and the FBI’s Westchester Safe Streets Task Force, with assistance from the Westchester County Department of Public Safety.

The case was before Judge George Fufidio in Westchester County Court and was prosecuted by the Violent Criminal Enterprise Bureau of the Trials and Investigations Division.
