Armored Car Company Employee Skimmed from Bags of Cash During Deliveries

WILMINGTON, DE – The Delaware State Police have arrested 40-year-old Alfred Virellas of Wilmington, Delaware, for felony theft following an investigation that began on Thursday. A manager at GardaWorld, a security and cash management company located at 212 East Lea Boulevard in Wilmington, contacted troopers and reported that an employee, later identified as Virellas, had stolen over $11,000 in cash over the course of March 2023. Virellas allegedly removed large sums of money from cash bags several times while working for GardaWorld, and the money was never returned.

Troopers responded to GardaWorld and were able to take Virellas into custody without incident. He was taken to Troop 1, where he was charged with one count of Theft Over $1,500, a felony. Virellas was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $10,000 unsecured bond. The investigation into Virellas’ actions continues, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
