NEW YORK, NY – Police said a reported kidnapping incident that took place in Gravesend was a misunderstanding. Police responded after a report of a female being carried into a car and driven away was made to 911 Friday morning.

Later, police released a security camera photo of the woman being carried away. Today, police said the incident was not a kidnapping and no crime was committed. The NYPD did not say what actually happened.

“The male and female depicted in the video were both found. This incident was investigated by the NYPD Major Case Squad. Both parties were known to each other and it was deemed to have not been a crime,” the department said.

The pair later told police that they had no idea they were even the subject of a kidnapping headline in the city.
