Kinzers man heading to prison after rape conviction

KINZERS, PA – Victor Smith, a 43-year-old man from Kinzers, was sentenced to 16-35 years in state prison on Friday after being convicted of child rape and seven additional sexual offense charges

. The crimes occurred between 2010 and 2015 and were discovered after a courageous 15-year-old victim came forward, revealing years of abuse.

Lancaster County Judge Dennis Reinaker ordered Smith’s sentence and required him to register as a lifetime sexual offender, following all requirements laid forth by Megan’s Law. Smith was also found to be a sexually violent predator during the hearing.


Prosecuting Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Ponessa emphasized the long-lasting impact of the defendant’s crimes, stating, “The testimony revealed the defendant had been sexually assaulting kids for nearly 20 years before finally being arrested.” She also praised the victims for their bravery in testifying against their abuser in court.
