Woman Scammed by Aggressive Suspect at Columbus ATM

COLUMBUS, OH – A woman was robbed at an ATM in east Columbus on March 31, 2023, when a man approached her aggressively, demanding she deposit a check and give him the money back. The suspect implied he was armed, which caused the victim to fear for her safety and comply with his demands.

The man was seen leaving the area in a small gray four-door sedan. The deposited check was later returned as not valid, and the victim was scammed out of the money from her account.

In an effort to identify and apprehend the suspect, Robbery Unit detectives have released surveillance photos of the man wanted for the crime.
