SHADY GROVE, MD – Montgomery County detectives are investigating an armed robbery and kidnapping that took place on Sunday.

The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Shady Grove Road and I-270.

According to the initial investigation, the victim was exiting the I-270 ramp onto Shady Grove Road when he encountered a silver Mitsubishi vehicle partially blocking the exit ramp. The victim believed that the suspect, who was waving him over, was a police officer. The victim then got out of his car and started walking towards the suspect, who demanded that he return to his vehicle. The suspect then approached the victim’s car and demanded money.

After getting the money, the suspect entered the victim’s car and asked him to drive to a Bank of America located in the 15000 block of Shady Grove Road to withdraw money from the ATM. The silver Mitsubishi followed the victim’s car, driven by the second suspect.

During the ordeal, the victim noticed a handgun in the suspect’s suit jacket on multiple occasions. Detectives were able to obtain video footage of one of the suspects from the bank’s surveillance cameras.

The suspect is described as a male of Middle Eastern descent, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. He has a light complexion, light brown eyes, short hair, and tattoos of the word “Vitiligo” on his hands and neck. The suspect was wearing a tan suit and boat shoes.

The second suspect, who was driving the Mitsubishi vehicle, is described as a male of East Indian descent with a dark complexion and straight black hair. He was wearing a button-up shirt with thin blue and white stripes.

The Major Crimes Division is urging anyone with information about these suspects or the crime to call 240-773-5070 or (240) 773-TIPS.
