Iconic Philadelphia bar coming to the Jersey Shore

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Good Dog Bar, the iconic neighborhood bar from Philadelphia, is now opening its second location in Atlantic City, much to the delight of local residents. =

Their public grand opening will be held on Wednesday, May 17 at 3 PM.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held earlier that day at 11 AM with the Mayor of Atlantic City and other business leaders attending. A staple in Philadelphia since 2003, Good Dog Bar brings its lively and hip atmosphere—as well as its delicious food and inspired beverage menu—right to the heart of Atlantic City on Atlantic Avenue.

The 5000 square foot 96 seat venue, which has been completely renovated, features two pooch-themed floors with two beautiful full-sized bars and a second-floor game room, all perfect for the good food, good drinks and good times that Good Dog Bar is known for—Good Dog Bar AC is the “ultimutt” destination for people and pups alike.

Four-legged friends will be welcome at the GDB outside patio when it opens in June.

“Just like our Philly location, we expect Good Dog Atlantic City to be a friendly neighborhood bar that welcomes everyone,” says Heather Gleason, who owns Good Dog Bar with her husband Dave Garry. “Our Chef is excited to bring the Good Dog scratch kitchen to this new location. She’s committed to using local, fresh, seasonal ingredients whenever possible—it’s her passion.”

With a menu focused on locally sourced, fresh food, created by Chef Carolynn Angle—think wings that are brined for 48 hours before being cooked, and burgers hand-stuffed with Roquefort—guests can look forward to signature dishes like the Good Dog Burger, Poke Bowls, Banh Mi and daily specials focused on locally sourced seafood, in addition to a selection of vegan options and a robust bar program—Good Dog Bar is doggone good news for Atlantic City.

And it’s even better news for industry professionals and first responders (police, fire, military), both of which get 20% off discounts—Sunday through Wednesday for “In the Biz” professionals and daily for police, fire, and military personnel—with ID.

Both inside and outside of the bar, dog art abounds. Inside, black and white photos of dogs, in addition to a tile mural of dogs created by MudGirls Studios, adorn the walls.

Outside, a brightly painted dog mural by Heather Deegan Hires serves to regale guests in the outdoor beer garden, while a civil rights mural created by BK Foxx and Claudio Picasso dons the east-side of the building.

“The more we considered Atlantic City as a second location for Good Dog Bar, the more we realized it was a perfect fit, for the bar as well as our home,” says Garry. “We fell in love with the shore and are excited to have moved here permanently now and to be part of the fabric of the Atlantic City community.”

The owners of Good Dog Bar say the name says it all: it is a friendly, faithful neighborhood bar that welcomes everyone…just like a good dog!
