TRENTON, NJ – A suspect wanted for a double shooting in Trenton in January has been arrested this week.

On January 8, 2023, the Trenton Police Department received a ShotSpotter activation of five rounds in the vicinity of 102 Oakland Street, revealing a direct connection to 8 Eisenhower Avenue.

Upon arrival, patrol units discovered two gunshot victims in a parked vehicle in front of the residence. The victims were rushed to Capital Health Regional Medical Center and treated for their injuries, later listed in stable condition.

Police identified Charles Jones as the suspect responsible for the shooting. Jones was seen firing from the second-floor apartment of 8 Eisenhower Avenue, Apartment 2A.

Patrol units noted visible bullet holes in the front window, and Jones fled the scene before their arrival.

Shooting Response Unit Detectives were assigned to the case and conducted an extensive investigation that led to the issuance of arrest warrants for Jones.

On May 3, Charles Jones was taken into custody in the Bronx Borough of New York City. He is currently held pending extradition to New Jersey to face charges for attempted homicide and weapons offenses.
