Frostburg Shooting Leaves One Dead, Three Injured at off-campus party

FROSTBURG, MD – A shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in Frostburg has left 20-year-old Alexander Ramon Redondo, of Westernport, dead and three others injured.

The shooting at an off-campus student rental in Frostburg early Sunday morning has left one man dead and two female Frostburg State University students injured. Frostburg Police and Frostburg State University Police responded to the residence on E. College Avenue at 12:10 AM after receiving reports of a shooting. A fourth shooting victim was later identified by police.

The injured male student from Frostburg State University, was taken to UPMC-Western Maryland by a private vehicle late Sunday afternoon for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound incurred during the incident.


Upon arrival, officers found a 20-year-old male victim who had been shot. He was transported to UPMC Western Maryland for emergency medical treatment but was later pronounced dead.

The male victim was not a student at Frostburg State University. The two injured female students were transported to UPMC Western Maryland and WVU Medicine’s Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser, West Virginia, respectively.

Both women are currently in stable condition.

Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) are leading the investigation and have learned that the shooting occurred during a party at the residence. The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and the Frostburg Volunteer Fire Department are also assisting in the investigation.
