BENSALEM, PA – In a case that has left a community in shock, 26-year-old Daniel Scott Howarth was convicted on Tuesday, for his role in the heartbreaking overdose death of his 4-month-old son.

Common Pleas Judge Gary B. Gilman found Howarth guilty on charges of child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The trial, lasting two days, presented harrowing evidence that painted a grim picture of the child’s living conditions.

Photos revealed a disheveled home littered with trash, dirty dishes, old food, drug baggies, syringes, and a tourniquet. The evidence also included emotional bodycam footage showing the desperate efforts of police and paramedics to save the infant.

Judge Gilman handed down a sentence of one year less one day to two years less one day in the Bucks County Correctional Facility, followed by five years of probation.

Additionally, Howarth is mandated to enter a long-term drug treatment plan before he can be considered for parole.
