OCEAN CITY, MD – Ocean City officials are reminding residents and visitors of a town ordinance prohibiting the consumption of alcohol in public places.

With beach bar season in full swing, the town has issued a reminder to keep drinks confined to bars, restaurants, residences, or lodging.

According to the town code, it is illegal to consume any alcoholic beverage on any public property, including streets, highways, alleys, sidewalks, municipal parking lots, boardwalks, and public beaches within Ocean City’s corporate limits. The ordinance also applies to vehicles on public streets, highways, alleys, municipal parking lots, or other public property.

Violators of the ordinance may face fines or other penalties. The town is urging everyone to enjoy the summer season responsibly and to abide by the law to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all.
