Monmouth county high school student killed in crash hours after receiving associates degree

HOLMDEL, NJ – 18-year-old Lauren Hewski, a senior at St. John Vianney who was enrolled in an Early College High School Program at Brookdale Community College, died in a car crash just hours after receiving her associate’s degree earlier in the day.

She was attending college while still in High School and is one of the youngest graduates of the program, according to the school.

The crash happened at around 12:30 pm in Colts Neck on Thursday in the area of Laird Road near Longbridge Road.


The driver, a 17-year-old male was treated for injuries.

Police arrived on the scene to find a single-motor-vehicle crash involving an overturned Jeep Cherokee.
