EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – The East Brunswick Police Department responded to a series of incidents at Brunswick Square Mall on the evening of Saturday.
Initial calls were related to disturbances at the L.E.A.D. Fest Carnival situated within the mall
. Concurrently, a report came in from the SureStay Hotel By Best Western of individuals fleeing the mall area due to reported gunshots from the vicinity of Habit Burger.
Upon arrival, officers found no immediate evidence of a shooting, although a spent shell casing was later discovered in the parking lot of Habit Burger.
Police said an armed robbery was reported where a suspect, described as a black male around fifteen years of age wearing a ski mask, allegedly brandished a handgun at three juvenile victims, demanding their sneakers. This incident occurred near Highway 18 by Cindy Way.
No injuries were reported.
Another incident involved an unidentified female reportedly yelling about being kidnapped from a black pickup truck in the Brunswick Square Mall parking lot. Despite a thorough search of the area, neither the vehicle nor the victim was located.
No missing person reports or independent witnesses have surfaced.
The incidents happened during a carnival held at the mall.
