Promotions Announced in Manchester Township Police Department

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Manchester Township Police Department announced the promotion of three of its veteran officers on Monday, in a ceremony presided over by Mayor Robert Arace.

Capt. James Komsa, Lt. David Fusaro, and Sgt. Joseph Fastige were promoted to their new ranks, while Sgt. Christopher Cerullo and Ptl. Patrick Cervenak transitioned to new roles within the agency.

Capt. Komsa began his police career in Seaside Heights in 1998, joining the Manchester Township Police Department in 2000. Capt. Komsa has served in various roles throughout his career and recently supervised the Investigations Bureau and Narcotics Enforcement Team.


Lt. Fusaro began his law enforcement career in 2004 with the Seaside Heights Police Department and joined the Manchester Township Police in 2007. He has served as a Detective, a Sergeant, and most recently, the Detective Sergeant overseeing the Narcotics Enforcement Team and Investigations Bureau.

Sgt. Fastige began his law enforcement career in 2008 with the Seaside Heights Police Department before joining the Manchester Township Police Department in 2011. He is an active presence in the community, serving as the department’s Social Media Manager and a high school opiate awareness instructor.

Sgt. Cerullo transitioned to the role of Detective Sergeant. He has been with the Manchester Township Police Department since 2007, serving as a School Resource Officer and developing the curriculum for the Youth Police Academy.

Finally, Ptl. Cervenak transitioned to the role of Detective. He has served with the Manchester Township Police Department since 2007, with roles such as Field Training Officer and firearms instructor.
