WASHINGTON, D.C. – A 10-year-old girl showed up at a D.C. fire and EMS station after being shot in the Mayfair neighborhood on Sunday.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are now seeking the public’s help in gathering information regarding the shooting.
The shooting was reported at around 9:14 pm in the 3700 block of Hayes Street, Northeast.
According to police, officers from the Sixth District responded to reports of gunshots in the area.
Upon their arrival, they discovered a crime scene but no victims were present at the scene.
Minutes later, a 10-year-old female victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound, was brought to a nearby DC Fire and EMS station. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital, where she currently remains in critical condition.

She was later identified as Arianna Davis. Ms. Davis remains in critical condition and is currently fighting for her life. She was a passenger in a car when she was shot.
“It is unacceptable to me that a 10-year-old little girl riding home with her mom, dad and two siblings last night got caught in the middle of a barrage of gunfire on Mother’s Day, and is now in the hospital fighting for her life,” D.C. police Robert Contee said in response to the shooting.
The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for this violent crime. The department urges the public to come forward with any relevant information that can assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
