Jersey City Man Charged in Murder of Lindenwold Woman

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ – On Friday, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit charged 35-year-old Gregory Mallard, from Jersey City, with the death of Norelis Mendoza. Mendoza, a 32-year-old Lindenwold resident, was found deceased in Bayonne on Wednesday.

Mallard faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, failing to dispose of human remains as required by law, and tampering with physical evidence. He is currently in custody in Somerset County.

Mendoza was reported missing on Sunday, May 14, 2023. During the investigation, the Homicide Unit, with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department, Bayonne Police Department, and New Jersey State Police, discovered Mendoza’s body off of Route 440 near the Jersey City border on Wednesday. Further details of the investigation will be withheld as the investigation is active and ongoing.
