QUEENS, NY – Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced on Thursday that Lee Yat Sing, a 31-year-old resident of Flushing, was arraigned on charges of aggravated cruelty to animals and overdriving, torturing, and injuring animals.

The charges stem from the death of a 4-year-old Maltese dog during a grooming session at Furry Babies Pet Grooming.

Surveillance footage from the grooming session on March 2 shows Sing forcefully manipulating the Maltese named Kele, including striking the dog with a pair of scissors.

Sing failed to administer care when Kele became unresponsive, which led to the dog’s death from respiratory failure. If convicted, Sing faces up to 2 years in prison.
