Teen charged after pulling gun during argument inside Columbia apartment complex

COLUMBIA, MD – Howard County Police Department has reported the arrest of a juvenile male following a confrontation at an apartment complex on the 10100 block of Twin Rivers Road on Tuesday. The incident occurred at around 8:37 am, leading to the apprehension of the 17-year-old male suspect, a resident of Columbia.

According to the department’s press release, the confrontation started as a verbal altercation between the suspect and an adult male employee of the apartment complex. As the dispute escalated, the suspect is said to have brandished a handgun, leading to the immediate evacuation of some tenants nearby

. No shots were fired during the incident and there were no reports of serious injuries.


Following the incident, the young male fled the scene. An alert was sent to the community, urging residents to stay indoors as officers and the K-9 unit worked to locate the suspect. The juvenile was apprehended a short distance away from the scene without incident.

The suspect was transported to a local detention center where charges are currently being determined. The Howard County Police Department has indicated that it will provide updates as the investigation unfolds.
