Asian woman attacked, NYPD Launche hate crime investigation

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department is investigating a hate crime committed against an Asian woman in Koreatown.


On Tuesday, at around 1:30 am, a report was made to the police regarding an incident that took place in front of 23 West 32 Street. According to the report, a 39-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were entering an Uber car when an unidentified person approached them and started making derogatory comments targeting Asians.

The individual then spat at the woman and forcefully pushed the man to the ground, subsequently kicking him multiple times in the leg. Onlookers at the scene intervened, causing the assailant to flee on foot. The woman did not sustain any physical injuries, while the man suffered minor injuries to his leg. Both victims declined medical assistance. The Hate Crimes Task Force of the NYPD is currently investigating the incident.


The individual being sought is described as a light-skinned male with a medium build and black hair. He was last seen wearing a white hooded shirt, blue jeans, and gray shoes.
