Girl Shot at Block Party in Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, MD – A 16-year-old girl is recovering from a gunshot wound following a shooting at a block party in Silver Spring on Friday. Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District officers responded to the shooting at around 9:58 pm.

Upon arrival, officers found the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers from the 2nd and 4th districts provided assistance at the crime scene.

Further investigation revealed that a dark-colored sedan carrying three to four occupants drove up to the block party and opened fire. The teenage girl was the only individual wounded during the incident, while three cars parked nearby were hit by bullets. Over 30 shell casings from a handgun and a high-powered rifle were retrieved from the scene.


The investigation remains ongoing with no suspects currently in custody. Detectives request anyone present at the party with cell phone footage to contact the 3rd District Investigative Section at 240-773-5530.
